To my esteemed guest, welcome to yet another facet of my strange personality! To my regular readers, I'm back!

Don't worry, it won't be long until I actually submit something. I have a few photos from Colorado that weren't too shabby, so I'll probably put one or two of those up. The original pictures weren't terribly great, but I've recently discovered the wonder that is GIMP, and with it, I can at least pretend that I'm a decent photographer.

But... as far as what I actually like doing, I've come to a realization. That realization is that I shouldn't pretend to be a good artist unless I can really back it up. Why put up a facade for something fake? It looks good to the passerby, but when someone really wants to know who you are and what you stand for, you might really be setting yourself up for a fall if they find out what you're really like. Take me, for instance. If I start going on and on about my photography, someone might actually be interested in what I have to say some day, and it's going to be embarrassing to no end if I have to admit that all of my work is done with a standard digital camera, no special lenses, and GIMP. My respectability as a photographer is going to plummet, but the worst part is that by lying, I'll have effectively destroyed any trust or interest that the people who really cared had for me.

Well, the damn site is called Deviantart... It would make sense if I actually posted some art, but what if I couldn't do that? That's when I bend the rules. This isn't just a blog anymore, and my artwork isn't limited to pretty pictures and beautiful sonnets. Some of us are more technical-minded, and to us, beauty may be waiting in plain and simple geometric proofs. Beauty may be lying in wait amidst a pile of electronic odds and ends. A mechanical device, a new invention, wrought for the first time in human history by the hands of a timid inventor... that's art, my friends!

Man, this day feels pretty historic already! From this day forward, this account will chronicle my independent work in science and engineering as well as the traditional arts! You've seen a few of my works for basic mathematics, now you will see their application and I sincerely hope that even though they might not describe the sensuous form of a lover or the captivating vision of nature, that you may see them as I see them. Perhaps I can explain how these inventions and small triumphs of science and engineering are like my own little "universe in a nutshell," so to speak. Our tools and equations may be limited, but the depth of our minds is not.

Now, I have a picture to upload and a microcontroller to start working on. That sentry gun isn't going to build itself. Er, well... you get the idea.
